My Story

About eight years ago, I realised I had hit a wall. I was doing all the ‘right’ things and yet nothing was working – at least not consistently. In being a Mum of a child with additional support needs, I put him at the top, thought of his needs above my own and forgot who I was.

Specifically, I was exhausted, I had lost my self-confidence and I often felt misunderstood by other parents. I had so little available time, I stopped seeing or talking to my friends as much. When there was an opportunity to go out, I was usually too tired to take it. Communication with my partner had become a to-do list - she was as knackered as me! In all honesty, I felt pretty broken and hopeless. All the usual things I might try weren’t helping, or it felt like I didn’t have time or the motivation to do them.

I’m guessing that some (or all) of this will sound familiar – this is the language I hear so often from Mums of children with additional support needs.

I get it. I understand deeply the impact on ourselves that parenting at this level can have and how quickly we can feel overwhelmed and lost.

One of the things that helped me, almost without me realising to begin with, was getting outside again – either walking in the dark when my son had gone to bed or doing a small task in the garden. The more I was out there, the more I spotted tiny, seasonal changes and in noticing these, my world began to feel wider and more hopeful again. I began to feel more present. This made me curious about how to embed seasonal living more intentionally into my life, and whether it would continue to help me if I did.

I began small, by following the rhythm of each season – more rest, knitting and thinking time in Winter, more action and movement in Spring. It really was that basic to begin with. But as each season turned, and returned, I deepened this practice, with profound results. What this gave me back was a feeling of control and calm, providing me with the first stepping-stone to remembering who I was, and to becoming the person, and Mum, I wanted to be.

There were no huge revelations, or ‘big work’ that needed extra effort or energy I didn’t have - that came later. What presented itself was simple and manageable and it worked.

And now, eight years on, I am on a mission to support other Mums who are in the situation I was. I invite you to come and experience with me the steady grounding of my programmes, designed with you in mind. The great news is there’s so much we can do together to help you find clarity towards a happier, confident and more emotionally regulated version of you. I will fully support you on your journey. Are you ready? It all begins here.
